WOW! You really captured the Hollywood Blvd. vibe. I think if you were to sum it up in a single word, the word word would be nasty. Spent a lot of time there back in the early 1970's, was better, a lot of bookstores and food places, but in the 80's onward, it just totally degenerated. Maybe a rival word to "nasty" to describe it would be "degenerate". So many places in LA are.......Go northwest of Hollywood to the San Fernando Valley if you REALLY WANT TO SEE DEGENERATE LOS ANGELES. I won't say specifically where I now live, but it's far from there in an area of northern Los Angeles County, not Palmdale/Lancaster (which as bad as they are, are far better than LA), but just south of the there, and it's beautiful.

Sunset Junction is NOT the heart of Silverlake. Its a border area that's the most crap area of silverlake that's Slake on one side and Hollywood on the other and gets the spill over from crap Echo Park. And the Music Box stair are technically part of E. Hollywood and the freaking pedestrian stairs which not hidden, but very common in that hilly area are NOT connected with the gay rights movement! They were there when there weren't so many streets in the area so people could quickly get to the Red Car lines.

Beaches in LA, NY and the lake in Chicago would be the same for me because the water is freaking cold, not very comfortable to enjoy swimming. Most of beaches in the States are not as beautiful as ones in Asia (especially in Thailand & Vietnam, beaches are always warm and much less expensive & easy to reach to if you live in those countries)

The most expensive city in the US Is definitely Honolulu, besides that u did a great job with this video but I would have to choose LA, I’ve lived in almost every state at this point including Honolulu. I say LA winning because of location to the rest of the world also personal space is a plus, if u go to DTLA u feel kinda like some NY vibes. Beside the city of LA, the other sub city near by are super fun as well. Then to add in u can get to SD or SF in a day trip making California just that much better then NY

as an LA native, post COVID and george floyd, the police presence has dropped significantly. Drivers started doing whatever they wanted during covid and driving became much more unpleasant and stress inducing. I gtfo 3 years ago and will likely never move back despite having family there.

Figueroa centre was a pipe dream it didn't go far. Oceanwide plaza, the graffiti towers is a much bigger deal adding a shopping center, but is a chinese company that succumb to their government blocking money from leaving. What actually made it to the finish line by a hair is Greenland's metropolis that almost didn't finish... Theres other cool proposals from 2017 that never got off like Shenzen Hazen on 1020 figueroa and Olympia tower by the freeway.

Little Tokyo is definitely the gem. Support the small business there, its keeping life afloat in dtla. Theres also chinatown but is more of a daytime thing, within chinatown theres a thai night market.

Feeling so fortunate and blessed. My family moved to Encinitas just as I started junior high and I graduated San Dieguito HS (now San Dieguito HS Academy). This was the early aughts and Encinitas was just a sleepy little surf town. Long live “Goonlight” beach, Borelli’s, and surf PE with Lani Madrid!

California would be awesome. Looking forward to visiting there someday. Did the drive in the midwest : Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. Didnt care for those states too much. California would be amazing. To each their own, but the west coast is hard to be lifestyle wise. If youre thstkind of person. Everyone is different but definitely wouldn't want to live in the Midwest or the Southern states in the United States

I live and work in downtown, wouldn’t live anywhere else.

I live in the LA area, and it is the WORST place I've ever lived. I can't get anywhere in under 2 hours (I dont drive and have to take the bus/train). The city is filthy, so spread out and not really walkable. There are so few trees that it makes waiting for the bus hard because the sun can get hot. The beaches are meh. Where i live, there aren't even blocks; just streets and stroads. Yes, i did my research before moving, but nothing prepared me for months of gloomy skies, 6 lane roads everywhere, lack of walkability and every single thing being taxed.

Golden Gardens...the only major Park that does not have bus service.

California is 500 miles of beautiful rocky mountains tumbling down onto the beautiful Pacific. Unlike the East Coast, other than parking, there are no pay beaches because, kids belong on the beach.. Venice and Santa Monica are hi-end urban beaches. Pt Dume is very Hi-end residential, and Zuma is a generic beach pinned between Pacific Coast Highway and the water. Unfortunately, most of Malibu is the PCH, a 25' sliver of residential and the waves... Many natives have fled to Oregon Washington and Idaho. In the 60's California invited the world to came.... and they did.
